Laguna Beach Family Portrait Session – Barefoot, Timeless, and Coastal

There’s something unforgettable about capturing a family in a place they love. For the Hicken family, that place was the beach—barefoot on the sand, surrounded by the bold rocky coves and vibrant cerulean waves of Laguna Beach. To commemorate one of their favorite vacation spots, we created a session that felt as much like a celebration as it did a portrait.

These images turned out to be both romantic and timeless. We began with classic portraits—elegant, composed, and full of connection. Then we ended the session chasing waves, dresses billowing in the breeze, denim sandy at the cuffs, and laughter echoing over the surf. It’s that blend of intentional beauty and unplanned magic that makes family photography so meaningful to me.

Mother’s Day is a chance to honor the heart of a family. If you’re looking for a gift that will last far longer than flowers, a portrait session is a beautiful way to freeze time—just for a moment—before life shifts again. Families grow and change so quickly; these images become a time capsule, one you’ll treasure for years to come.

The Taylor Family | Family Portraits

I came across these images the other day and I’m really loving how timeless they feel, not to mention the special moments we managed to capture of the Taylor family. If you’re on the fence about location because of the time of year, I definitely recommend going with a studio, especially when weather can be unpredictable in the winter. I also love how much the photos focus on the gestures and emotions—it really makes the shots come alive. This was taken at a natural light studio in downtown Provo, Utah— for anyone in the area looking to book a session!

Thank you to the Taylor family! I loved spending time with you and capturing your family in this stage of life. Life is fleeting, unknown, and beautiful all at the same time.

Darley Family | Family Portraits

The Darley family were a delight to photograph this past October on the Foothills of Utah Valley. We wanted to set up a timeless fall shoot that used a pallet of colors they could hang in their home year round. I loved getting to know this family and I even got to meet another artist in my local community, John is an incredible figure painter. Thanks for allowing me to capture some images of your adorable family!
